Have a Glamorous Summer!

*Published in Buzz Fashion Profiler, Eid special issue – August 2012

By far the most enjoyable season of the year is summer! Going on vacation, being outdoors, a day out on the beach or a fun picnic with friends all sounds like some adventurous plans. However, you are forgetting the hot temperature, the sweat and not to mention the dreaded sunburn! The type of makeup that is necessary to wear in summer is different than other seasons because you have to consider the humidity and dryness that the temperature brings. If you are planning to stay outside in the sun, follow some easy steps for a beautiful summer makeup look.

Step 1: Start by prepping your skin. Use a moisturizer that suits your skin type, this will keep your skin well hydrated. For oil-prone skin opt for an oil-free moisturizer or skip this step altogether. Add a bit of concealer to your undereyes to liven any darkness and cancel any pigmentation. For oil-prone skin opt for an oil-free moisturizer or skip this step altogether. If you don’t want to apply too many products, then opt for using a foundation that includes SPF. Finish off your face makeup by applying a pressed powder to lock in your foundation so that it lasts all day through the humidity and sweat.

Use: Color Studio Professional Pro Luminous Foundation

Step 2: Now for your eyes, shades of bronze and gold are perfect for the season. Neutral shades of eye shadows can be used for any look day or night. Keeping a few practical shades in your collection can be used in a variety of ways. Pick a light eye shadow that can be used as a soft wash of color all over the lid. A smudgy eyeliner look can easily make the perfect statement eyes without going overboard.

Step 3: For an easy, fool-proof way to apply eyeliner is by using a soft kohl kajal pencil eyeliner. A creamy kajal pencil eyeliner can easily be used to apply eyeliner on the top and lower lash line, making a thick or thin line to suit the look that you are going for. A thick line of a jet black eyeliner can bring drama to your eyes. Going for definition? Add some mascara to your lashes with a volume boosting formula, this will create the look of voluminous lashes.

Use: Color Studio Professional 3D MAX Volume Mascara

Step 4: Don’t forget to add a bit of color to your cheeks. A light wash of a pixie pink blush can add some dimension to your look. There are plenty of shades to choose from such as pink, peaches or mauves. Although pinks and mauve work great for a night time look, using a natural tone blush can instantly enhance your look. The best blush application is by using a fluffy brush and lightly dust the powder just below your cheekbones and blending it out into your jaw line.
